As damask roses bloom in Meymand District of Firuzabad County in Iran’s Fars Province in spring, families bring their newborn babies to observe the Gol Ghaltan tradition.

Gol Ghaltan literally means rolling in flowers. People mark the tradition by rolling their babies in the petals of flowers in their first spring.

They believe that tradition protect the child from seasonal allergy.

Meymand is famous for its damask roses and rose water. Each spring, the district attracts people who are interested in visiting its orchards and in shopping for rose water.
